Bio Pump Trolley is a Santa Fe, New Mexico based art toy atelier. I specialize in crafting fine limited edition artisan-designed playthings from non-toxic materials, paints, & finishes, with a preference for locally sourced materials. We operate as a design laboratory presenting and producing the art toy designs of emerging designers. Our art toys are lovingly produced in New Mexico and available to the world through our etsy.com shop. Pump Trolley was founded by artisan-designer, art lover, and parent Matthew Ellis. Matthew Ellis, lead designer and founder of Pump Trolley Art Toy Atelier originally served a traditional apprenticeship, after high school, in fine wood working, including the study of fine furniture making, reproducing historic folks toys, and restoring classic wooden ships and yachts. He subsequently studied illustration and communication design at Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston. He has worked with several museums and cultural preservation organizations, in the US, and in Europe. He has also worked in advertising as well as fine art and design sales. Matthew has been making toys since childhood, and still has one of the first toys he ever made; a hand puppet made in 1982.
