The Food Depot is a non-profit organization fostering healthy, hunger-free communities in Northern New Mexico.
As one of five food banks in the New Mexico Association of Food Banks and a partner distribution organization of Feeding America, a nationwide network of food banks throughout the nation, The Food Depot serves nine counties. They include Colfax; Harding; Los Alamos; Mora; Rio Arriba; San Miguel; Santa Fe; Taos, and Union.
Through a vast chain of food rescue and donation collection, The Food Depot distributes an average of 445,000 pounds of food and household products each month, providing more than 370,000 meals through its partner agencies to adults, families, children, seniors, and people in transition struggling with food insecurity.
The Food Depot’s hunger network is comprised of more than 145 partner agencies including emergency food pantries, hot meal programs, homeless shelters, youth programs, group homes, senior centers, children’s homes, day care centers, and shelters for battered families.
In addition, The Food Depot provides relief to victims of natural disasters and operates a wide range of programs, from weekly bag of child-friendly foods given to at-risk elementary school children and summer lunch boxes, to mobile food pantries and pet food distribution. |
