Bio Flamenco dancer, choreographer and teacher, Julia Chacón has performed in Spain, Mexico, and the United States. She directs the troupe, Inspiracón Flamenca, and has danced in the companies of renowned artists María Benítez’ (Santa Fe), Omayra Amaya (Boston), and Carlota Santana (New York). Julia’s choreography has been showcased in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Scottsdale, and Santa Fe. Her self-produced concerts in Arizona and New Mexico met with sold out acclaim. Her work was included in the 50th anniversary celebration of the Shanghai Opera House in China in 2006. Her teaching credentials are varied and include Scottsdale, AZ’s New School for the Arts (a performing arts high school); Harvard University in Cambridge, MA; the Institute for Spanish Arts, and Moving People Dance – both in Santa Fe. Julia’s background includes extensive ballet, classical Spanish, and flamenco training both in the States and in Spain She has a BFA in dance, magna cum laude and BS in Anthropology from the University of New Mexico.
