Ready to share ideas, pose questions and enjoy caffeinated (or decaffeinated) conversation? MorningMIX kicked off for the year at 8:30 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 17 at Iconik Coffee Roasters‘ Lupé location (314 S. Guadalupe). Past speakers have included City of Santa Fe Economic Development economic development specialist Rich Brown and entrepreneur Haj Khalsa.

The 2019 series will take place on the third Thursday of each month that we don’t hold an evening MIX (schedule below).

Each gathering will also feature special guests to share their knowledge and lead conversations.

On April 18, the morningMIX guest speaker will be Julia Wise, a technical project manager for New Mexico Small Business Assistance Program, which solves small businesses and entrepreneurs’ challenges with technical assistance from New Mexico’s National Labs and Universities. Dr. Wise holds a MS and Ph.D in geology from the University of Cincinnati. Prior to her current position she taught geology at the University of Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky University. She’s held roles in technology transfer at the University of New Mexico and was the Director of the Office of Science of Technology at the New Mexico Economic Development Department where she created the Innovation Voucher and SBIR Matching Grant programs. Julia currently serves on the Board of the New Mexico Partnership, The BioScience Advisory Council at the Santa Fe Business Incubator, and is active in mentorship programs especially those relating to engaging girls in STEM.

The New Mexico Small Business Assistance (NMSBA) Program provides New Mexico small businesses facing technical challenges access to the unique expertise and capabilities of Los Alamos and Sandia national laboratories. At no cost to the business, small businesses can seek assistance from lab scientists and engineers to solve challenges and overcome barriers to company success. Assistance
can range from help with business development to engineering evaluations to probiotic identification in Kombucha.
